These amazing monsters are why fine artist Tim Murton has been dubbed “the Monster Guy”. Tim started the Twilight Zoo in 1996 as Halloween decorations for the kids. Featured on Martha Stewarts Halloween Special in 2011, these wire and paper sculptures have become a regular part of the Elora landscape every fall. Tim adds to the Zoo collection every year and as the menagerie grows so does the number of people visiting to see them.

With many many thanks going out to the fine folks who help to repaper and gauze the creations each year.

The Twilight Zoo is brought to you with help from The Elora Centre for the Arts,  Centre Wellington Tourism and the Elora BIA

TIM MURTON currently lives and works in Elora, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Hythe, Kent England, Tim emigrated to Canada armed with a B.Sc. in construction technology.  After a relatively brief career in the mining engineering field Tim started a completely new life as an artist. He enrolled at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto and later studied in Florence and Paris.

Tim’s painting style ranges from impressionism to photo-realism, but his work is always inspired by the qualities of light.

Tim spent over 18 years in the Toronto film industry, accumulating scenic art credits on more than 40 feature films in Canada, US, England and New Zealand.  He is now living his life’s ambition as an independent fine artist.
Tim’s paintings have been exhibited at Toronto’s Harbour front Gallery, Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery, The Harbinger Gallery, MacDonald Stewart Guelph, Art Gallery of Windsor, Karger Gallery, Elora Centre for the Arts and Chimaera Gallery, UK among others. His work is in many private collections throughout Canada, England, Europe and the U.S.

Elora has long been a tourist destination in Ontario, known for its support of the arts and its vibrant art culture. Since 1996  The Twilight Zoo has made it the number one Halloween destination in Ontario. Being featured on the Martha Stewart Show last year took The Twilight Zoo to another level and exposed our village to a world wide audience, we can feel the momentum growing and welcome your support.

During the month of September and early October Tim welcomes volunteers to help with the yearly maintenance of the monsters.

Twilight Zoo volunteer times are Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 till 4:00 at The Elora Centre for the Arts.

If you would be interested in having your business featured as part of The Twilight Zoo please get in-touch. The Zoo would not be possible without the support of the community,

Monsters are available for sale to patrons of the arts in the Elora and Fergus area. For a consultation with Tim please contact us:
